About us

We started with one counter, one scale and a lot of tea.

Marigold is a family of three small shops. This is our story, and the people who make it work.

Our story

In 2009, Ruth Nakato opened a small shop on Market Street. Neighbours came in for sugar and stayed for the news. Soon they were asking for more: rice, soap, school books.

Today Marigold has three branches and 38 people on the team. We still weigh rice by hand if you ask. We still remember how you take your tea.
